چکیده

A submersible analyzer (Geochemical Anomaly MOnitoring System, GAMOS-IV) powered by micro-diaphragm pumps has been developed for in situ monitoring of time-series changes in manganese concentrations. The analyzer determines dissolved manganese in a continuous manner using a H2O2-luminol chemiluminescence method. The analyzer operates with a sample and reagent flow rate of approximately 60 ml/min, with a detection range up to 10 mM manganese, and has a 98% response time of approximately 6 min. The GAMOS-IV was tested during test deployment at 1,379 m in diffused hydrothermal fields at the Suiyo seamount. The ratio of manganese concentration to temperature (Mn/T) varied with different admixtures of source fluids.

Characteristics of Microbial Communities in Crustal Fluids in a Deep-Sea Hydrothermal Field of the Suiyo Seamount

To directly access the sub-seafloor microbial communities, seafloor drilling has been done in a deep-sea hydrothermal field of the Suiyo Seamount, Izu-Bonin Arc, Western Pacific. In the present study, crustal fluids were collected from the boreholes, and the bacterial and archaeal communities in the fluids were investigated by culture-independent molecular analysis based on 16S rRNA gene sequen...

Hydroelastic Vibration of a Circular Diaphragm in the Fluid Chamber of a Reciprocating Micro Pump

Reciprocating diaphragm micro-pumps are the most common type among indirectly–driven micro-pumps. They operate by reciprocating the diaphragm with associated check valves. This paper addresses the Hydroelastic vibration of circular elastic diaphragm interacting with the incompressible and inviscid liquid inside the cylindrical chamber with a central discharge opening. Taking into account axisym...

Simulation and Derivation of Deflection Equation for Suspended Diaphragm for MEMS Application Using Kirchhoff-Love Theory

In this paper, using theory of sheets, the deflection of suspended diaphragm has been obtained under uniform and circular loading. This type of diaphragm, unlike other diaphragms, has a central support which is recommended to be used in MEMS applications. The relationship between diaphragm deflection and static analysis of this diaphragm enjoys a great significance in investigating and understa...

Analysis of dissimilatory sulfite reductase and 16S rRNA gene fragments from deep-sea hydrothermal sites of the Suiyo Seamount, Izu-Bonin Arc, Western Pacific.

This study describes the occurrence of unique dissimilatory sulfite reductase (DSR) genes at a depth of 1,380 m from the deep-sea hydrothermal vent field at the Suiyo Seamount, Izu-Bonin Arc, Western Pacific, Japan. The DSR genes were obtained from microbes that grew in a catheter-type in situ growth chamber deployed for 3 days on a vent and from the effluent water of drilled holes at 5 degrees...
